Our Why
Kids in our schools deserve a teach in the room who cares about them as people. It is about the students…not the content. A teacher in the room can set the humans in their care on a path toward success, and we want kids to have the best lives possible.
Teaching is an exciting adventure where we get to be learners for our whole lives as we journey with kids into the future. The world is changing, and we get to change how we approach the classroom, what we learn, and how we build that future are entering. By learning new information every day, we can model curiosity for and with our students.
The kids of today, like every generation before, must inherit the world passed onto it from the previous generations. But this time, the latest generations are inheriting two different worlds: the physical world and the digital world. Just as we desire and demand an equitable society in “the real world”, the same concepts are expected and required from the digital copy. To give the digital realm an encouraging start, the impact must be made before the next world is established. The programmers, designers, architects, and engineers of the new world—tomorrow’s heroes—must comprise of a diverse and inclusive population to develop its framework and craft an equitable virtual world. Crafting Heroes’ enthusiastic commitment is to equip the future’s heroes with the knowledge, experience, and skills required to invent the next world, today.
Our Origin Story
Founded in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Crafting Heroes, LLC founders Deidre LaCour, Cheri Wybrant, and Sean Wybrant established the company in February 2022. The founding members possess experience in education, training, business, computer science/security, graphic design, immersive technologies, and engineering. The transition into the new entity allows the programs to exist independent of school district limitations to scale up the opportunities and outreach for students by bringing more staff on board and opening additional funding possibilities.
So far, our students have created augmented reality (AR) handbooks, virtual reality (VR) museums, and holographic experiences under Sean’s approach and as interns for Crafting Heroes. Crafting Heroes students have developed HoloQuest: Space, an experience developed in collaboration with the Space Foundation and the United States Navy Strategic Systems Programs office. The Augmented Reflections project was also produced with the University of Colorado Colorado Spring History department. In Augmented Reflections, users can explore virtual and augmented reality experiences that transform historical documents into technology experiences.
Our Objective
Our objective is to connect the gap between the lack of immersive technology internships available to high school students and the companies that want immersive experiences, contributing to the community overall. We achieve this vision in partnership with schools that run work-based learning classes and are the bridge between community organizations and schools. The oversight and translation of client feature requests into age-appropriate level programming objectives are made possible by our highly trained and award-winning computer science educators. Projects pursued by the students are crafted utilizing modern and innovative technologies such as XR headsets, motion capture hardware and software, and industry-standard game development engines.
We make it our responsibility to equip students, the heroes of tomorrow, with the necessary resources to help build their future. We believe that students should be able to create the future they will inherit, and the vision of Crafting Heroes, LLC is to inspire and empower tomorrow’s heroes to build the future.

Service learning was quite possibly, the most challenging, meaningful and “real” project that I have ever done. There are very few opportunities, in school, that student get to apply the things that they have learned in a real world situation. It brings out the true colors of an individual and pushes them to things that they had never thought possible.
